Anoka

Located 30 miles north of Minneapolis, Anoka is one of the coolest little towns in the downtown area. Home to the Halloween capital of the world. The town really goes all out that time of year from a huge parade, trick or treaters to even a large 5k run dubbed “Grey Ghost” 5k run. While there are only about 20,000 residents in this Minneapolis suburb, it is filled with activities, including car shows and vendor fairs. There is rarely a dull moment in Anoka, making it one of the best Twin Cities suburbs in the north metro.

This town is also perfect for anyone looking to try cuisines with tantalizing flavors. From local ice cream to top notch southern BBQ with a Minnesota flair. Anoka even is home to a unique speakeasy. Nucky’s is located underneath the old post office, with the main level taking on a asian and southern blend, Club 300. In fact, the delectable entrees I have had the pleasure of trying have inspired me to create a food blog known as Anoka County Eats. You can find it on YouTube or Facebook.

Things to do in Anoka, MN

You can have all of the benefits of living in Minneapolis without the stressful and time-consuming commute, thanks to the commuter rail and light rail. The commuter rail line can take you to Minneapolis, where you can transfer to the light rail and get a ride to St. Paul, the airport, or the Mall of America to help cut down on your travel time. Anoka is also home to the Greenhaven Golf CourseRocket Park, and the Anoka Aquatic Center if you’re a family looking for something fun to do in the summer months. Our family frequently attends the Aquatic Center when it’s warm. Highly recommend it.

Real Estate in Anoka, MN

If you are considering moving to Minnesota, Anoka would be an excellent place to call home. One neighborhood found here is located at the intersection of Seventh and Main. While this area is an older neighborhood compared to some of the other Minneapolis suburbs, this lively town is slightly more affordable, with homes costing an average of $250,000 to $300,000. This area was built between the 1940s and 1960s, so there is a lot of charm and history in each home.

Another neighborhood I would like to show you is found to the right of the Mississippi and Rum Rivers. This area was constructed between the 1960s and 1970s, but newer communities have since been built in this neighborhood. Homes in this Anoka neighborhood typically start selling for $400,000 and can range up towards $1 million. Anoka offers a vast variety of homes varying in style and price. It’s historic feel really adds to the lifestyle if that is something you are interested in. Old and new makes Anoka one of a kind in the north suburbs.
